Rail News: Amtrak
Amtrak issues new national magazine
Amtrak has launched its first national onboard magazine, the passenger railroad announced yesterday.
Known as The National, the free magazine is available in seatbacks throughout Amtrak's national network. The railroad also unveiled a magazine website.
The magazine replaces Arrive, Amtrak's former publication distributed exclusively along Northeast Corridor routes.
"We are dedicated to enhancing our customers' onboard experience, highlighting the unique elements that Amtrak offers and The National does just that," said Rob Friedman, Amtrak's vice president of brand management and marketing, in a press release.
The magazine showcases personalities, culture and destinations along Amtrak routes, Friedman added.
In its first issue, The National features travel essays, fiction, poetry and fine-art photography.
In July, Amtrak announced that it selected London-based travel media company Ink to produce the new magazine, which will be created out of the publisher's New York office.
