The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has launched a customer survey to gather input on the planned redesign of Jamaica Station in the Queens borough of New York City.
The survey can be completed through May 8. The results will guide planning for the Jamaica Station project. The transit hub serves 200,000 daily riders across MTA Long Island Rail Road, AirTrain JFK and MTA New York City Transit subway and bus services.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul designated $50 million in the state's fiscal-year 2027 executive budget to fund planning for the project, MTA officials said in a press release. The MTA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are jointly overseeing the redesign efforts.
Despite being the fourth-busiest commuter-rail station in North America, Jamaica Station has not been upgraded since AirTrain JFK was integrated in 2003, MTA officials said. The redesign will help create better traffic flow, reduce crowding and better connect the LIRR, NYC Transit and AirTrain JFK services.
