Advanced Rail Management Corp. (ARM) recently announced plans to hold a "Railway Economics" panel discussion at Connections 2003 Rail/Wheel Interface Seminar scheduled for March 18-19 in Chicago.
Moderated by Mike Franke, Amtrak senior director of planning and business development, the panel will include Rail World Inc. President Edward Burkhardt, and Harris Bank Vice President and Senior Equity Research Analyst Bob Brizzolara.
Later this week, ARM plans to announce two other panelists, who will provide additional economic viewpoints from a Class I and rail-supply industry perspective, according to a prepared statement.
Panelists will discuss railroads' cost of capital, industry changes that need to occur to enable railroads to remain viable in today's global economy and maintain operational integrity, and economic pressures applied by Wall Street and shareholders.
"From this information, we hope to gain a better understanding of how and why advances in technology relating to the rail/wheel interface are either justified or pursued," said ARM President Gordon Bachinsky.
