The Port of Savannah handled 503,739 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in July, the first month of fiscal-year 2027, a gain of 5.7% over the same month in the previous fiscal year.
Exports totaled nearly 115,000 TEUs, up 7.7%, and imports reached 251,999, up 5%
“We’re pleased to start fiscal-year 2027 in positive territory for both import and export cargo. Our August volumes on the water also look strong,” said Georgia Ports Authority GEO Griff Lynch in a press release.
The Appalachian Regional Port, GPA’s rail-connected inland port in Crandall, handled a record 4,800 containers in July, up 41% over July 2025. Growth came from both new customers and increased business from existing users, authority officials said.
The regional port ended fiscal-year 2026 (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026) with a record annual volume of 49,319 containers, up nearly 20% over the previous 12 months.
Meanwhile, July rail lifts at Savannah’s Mason Mega Rail Terminal reached 44,981 containers, up 2%.
At the Port of Brunswick, auto imports increase 5.3% over July 2025 to 51,704 units, but total auto trade was down 4.5% due to lower exports. Combined autos and heavy machinery reached 67,881 units, down 1.6% compared to July 2025.
