The Editorial Board of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part F: Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit recently presented a 2011 “SAGE Best Paper Award” to three Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) researchers for authoring a report on a wheel-rail interface management model.
TTCI Principal Investigator Huimin Wu, Senior Vice President of Technology Semih Kalay and Scientist Harry Tournay co-wrote the “Development of the Wheel-Rail Interface Management Model and its Applications in Heavy Haul Operations.”
The award recognizes research papers that introduce new knowledge or fundamentally advance a topic area, propose a new way of doing something, and are presented in “an outstanding and quality manner,” TTCI officials said in a prepared statement.
Wu’s, Kalay’s and Tournay’s work in the field of wheel-rail interface management “is important research that will provide great benefit to the rail industry, especially in North America,” said TTCI President Lisa Stabler.
