Southern California Regional Rail Authority’sMetrolink recently approved a four percent across-the-board fare increase.
Scheduled to go into effect July 1, the increase will help offset rising operating costs, fund capital improvements, and enhance safety and security.
Metrolink also approved a plan to restructure the agency’s fare policy over a 10-year period. Beginning July 1, 2005, fares will be based on distance between stations rather than the current zone-based system.
