Bay Area transit agencies introduce Clipper payment card
advertisement
Yesterday, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and several San Francisco Bay Area transit operators renamed the region’s all-in-one, reloadable fare card as Clipper. The Clipper replaces TransLink, which had been in use since 2002.
Clipper can be used to pay fares for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Bay Area Rapid Transit, AC Transit, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit & Ferry and Dumbarton Express. SamTrans and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority are scheduled to begin accepting Clipper cards later this year, MTC officials said in a prepared statement.
Several Bay Area transit agencies will begin phasing out various paper fares and transition riders to the Clipper card.
