CSXI introduces weekly fuel surcharge for domestic container program
advertisement
On Dec. 8, CSX Intermodal will implement a weekly fuel surcharge for its CSXU Domestic Container Program.
The surcharge will be based on the retail price of diesel as published by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) “Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices - Average All Types — U.S.” and will take effect the following Monday after a surcharge amount is announced.
The fuel surcharge for the week ending Dec. 14 will be 18 percent. On Dec. 1, the DOE’s published retail price for diesel was $2.61 per gallon.
CSXI’s monthly fuel surcharge will remain in effect for programs other than the CSXU Domestic Container Program. In addition, CSXI's drayage only surcharge will remain unchanged. Those surcharges will continue to be announced on the last Monday of each month and take effect the first Monday of the following month, CSXI said.
