Alcatel installs communication system on Egyptian metro line

Alcatel recently delivered and installed a communication system for Cairo, Egypt’s Metro Line 2 extension.

The supplier designed, delivered, installed and tested the system, which manages train-to-ground communications, and safety and security and information provided at stations and inside trains.

Alcatel equipped the line and stations with subsystems, including a transmission, telephone and radio communications networks, closed-circuit televisions, and fire detection and public-address systems.

The system will enable dispatchers to monitor train traffic and equipment from a single control center, communicate with drivers via radio and manage passenger information, according to a prepared statement.
