Union Pacific Railroad logged its third consecutive "perfect" peak season in 2025, reflecting the Class I's best-ever operational performance achieved in the year, the Class I announced yesterday.
Peak season is defined as the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, when holiday shopping surges and on-time delivery becomes essential, UP officials said in a news release.
UP handled more than 26,000 "priority" loads during the season, surpassing 2024's record, UP officials added. Growth in the intermodal sector boosted UP's 2025 peak season traffic, and both UPS and FedEx increased their usage of UP as a carrier in 2025. UP's premium service is available for intermodal freight, finished vehicles and automotive parts, according the company website.
"These results underscore the premium community’s confidence in Union Pacific’s ability to deliver sustained, best-in-class service," said Todd Lenczowski, general director of sales.
