Union Pacific Railroad will spend $85 million this year to maintain track and bridges in Wyoming.

The projects are part of the Class I's $3.3 billion capital expenditures program for 2018. The Wyoming work will include $81.6 million to maintain track and $2.9 million to maintain bridges, according to a UP press release.

Key projects planned this year include $12.9 million to replace more than 102,000 ties on the rail line that runs south of the Rock River to Cheyenne; $11.6 million to replace 25 miles of rail east of Wamsutter to just west of Rawlins; and $10.7 million to replace more than 79,000 ties on the line that runs west of Evanston to Granger.

Over the past five years, UP has spent more than $251 million on its infrastructure in the state.
