• EVRAZ plc and Evraz Group S.A. has announced plans to upgrade its rail facility in Pueblo, Colo., according to a company press release. The upgrades will focus on product quality and operational improvements, and will expand the head hardened rail manufacturing capacity by 10 percent. In addition, the facility’s labs will be upgraded to increase the rate of product development. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2013.
• Armtec Infrastructure Inc. has secured rail infrastructure projects, valued at more than $30 million, in the Toronto area. The projects were anticipated as part of the previously announced $50 million in new contracts expected to be booked during the fourth quarter. The awarded projects include the design and manufacture of infrastructure products for the West Toronto Diamond Rail-to-rail grade separation, and two parking garages for GO Transit, according to a company press release.
• The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) recently elected Scott Norman to its board. Norman is vice president of estimating and project development for Herzog Contracting Group. The following incumbent board members were reelected: Mike Choat, president, Railroad Controls Ltd.; Greg Lippard, vice president, Rail Product Sales, L.B. Foster Co.; and Larry Laurello, vice president, Delta Railroad Construction.
