Alstom has signed contracts worth 1.2 billion euros with TransPennine Express for the supply and long-term maintenance of a new fleet of battery-electric passenger-rail trains. Alstom will design, engineer, build and test the trains at its Derby Litchurch Lane Works facility. The trains will be used across northern England. The contracts combine a rolling stock contract worth about 930 million euros for 29 five-car battery-electric multiple units with maintenance contracts valued at around 230 million euros, Alstom officials said in a press release. Alstom will deliver the fleet starting in 2032. The order represents the first deployment of Alstom's Adessia Stream platform in the United Kingdom. It will be Britain's first mainline battery-electric train fleet, company officials said. The 397-foot-long trains will operate at speeds of up to 110 mph and will have level boarding at every door. The trains will be operated by Great British Railways.

Stadler has received an order from Italian freight operator FS Logistix for eight Stadler EUROLIGHT Dual locomotives. The locomotives will be used by FS Logistix's company Mercitalia Shunting and Terminal, Stadler officials said in a press release. The EUROLIGHT Dual was specifically developed for the requirements of the Italian rail network. Combining 3 kW DC electric traction with a Stage V diesel engine, the locomotive can operate on electrified and non-electrified routes. It is suitable for both mainline and secondary-line use throughout Italy. The bi-mode locomotives will support FS Logistix's sustainability initiatives. Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal is a leading Italian operator of railway shunting activities at ports, terminals and stations, Stadler officials said.

Pacific West LLC, a rail and industrial infrastructure services company backed by Bluejay Capital Partners, has acquired Coleman Industrial Construction, a Kansas City, Missouri-based provider of rail and industrial facility construction, renovation, environmental, maintenance and repair services. The acquisition extends Pacific West's footprint into the Midwest, adding to its existing presence in Salt Lake City, Dallas-Forth Worth, San Antonio and Phoenix. Coleman primarily serves Class Is' facilities, including locomotive servicing and fueling systems, yard air systems and rail car maintenance facilities, as well as wastewater, stormwater, and related mechanical and environmental infrastructure, Pacific West officials said in a press release.
