Georgetown Rail  Equipment Co. (GREX) has hired Todd Euston as senior engineer-inspection technologies. For the past 10 years, Euston has served as manager of rail systems at Harsco Rail, where he developed rail technology applications. In his new position, he will help GREX further develop Aurora, GateSync, BallastSaver and other projects involving advanced technology and design. Euston will report to Vice President of Engineering Greg Grissom.

Stella-Jones Inc. has signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire the shares of McFarland Cascade Holdings Inc. The letter contemplates a purchase price of $230 million, which includes $113 million of net working capital and assumption of certain liabilities, according to a Stella-Jones press release. Scheduled to close later this month, the acquisition is subject to the customary closing conditions, including entry into a definitive purchase agreement, customary approvals and due diligence. Stella-Jones already has received U.S. antitrust clearance for the acquisition.

Dick Kloster has joined AllTranstek L.L.C. as vice president of business strategy, development and technical services. He will oversee development and implementation of AllTranstek's commercial strategy, as well as lead its ongoing Technical Services Consulting practice. Kloster has 30 years of rail industry experience, having worked for several railroads, GE Rail Car Services, and, most recently, FTR Associates. His background is in marketing, business development, pricing, demand forecasting, asset and fleet management, strategic planning, operations and sales.

The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) has issued a call for entries for the 2013 Dr. William W. Hay Award for Excellence. AREMA established the award to recognize outstanding achievement in railway engineering, and to honor the memory and accomplishments of Hay, a professional railroader in military transportation service and the private rail industry. Hay was a consultant on design, construction and operations of railroads. For more than 25 years, he was professor of railway civil engineering at the University of Urbana-Champaign.
