Siemens Mobility, in collaboration with L.K. Comstock (LKC), has secured a nearly $390 million contract to add communications-based train control (CBTC) systems on MTA New York City Transit's Fulton-Liberty subway lines. The companies will decommission the century-old infrastructure and implement Siemen's CBTC system, Trainguard MT, at 23 stations and on about 40 miles of track in Brooklyn and Queens, Siemens officials said in a press release. Work also includes construction of four new train control rooms and installation of 5G commuter cellular service.

Wabtec Corp. last week reported first-quarter 2026 sales of $2.95 billion, up 13% from Q1 2025 sales. The increase was driven by Wabtec's acquisitions of Inspection Technologies, Frauscher Sensor Technologies and Dellner Couplers, company officials said in a press release. Q1 cash flow totaled $199 million, up about 4%, and the adjusted operating margin clocked in at 21.9%, up 0.2 points. Quarterly adjusted earnings per share climbed 8.9% year over year to $2.71 primarily because of higher sales and non-operational benefits, Wabtec officials said.

HDR has been named employer of the year by WTS International, an organization for women in the transportation industry. The award recognizes HDR's commitment to advancing women and developing a diverse, inclusive and collaborative environment, HDR officials said in a press release. WTS highlighted HDR's focused professional development and leadership programs, work-life balance initiatives and women's networking group. HDR is a Pinnacle Partner of WTS, with more than 250 employees engaged with the organization across North America.

Intramotev will deploy its autonomous TugVolt rail cars in Austria under a new contract with OBB Rail Cargo Group, the country's national rail operator. The contract marks St. Louis-based Intramotev's first regulated use case and first international deployment, Intramotev officials said in a press release. OBB operates over 1,000 freight trains per day across 18 countries, moving about 79 billion net tons of cargo per year.
