Siemens Mobility Canada will partner with the Reseau de Transport de la Capitale (RTC) in Quebec to create one of Canada’s first regional mobility as a service platforms for a public transit agency. The project will integrate RTC’s current five apps into one, on which passengers can plan, book and pay for trips in one location, rather than across multiple apps, Siemens officials said in a press release. A beta version of the app will be launched in fall 2025.
Genesis Rail Co. has appointed Rance Randle CEO. He has over two decades of experience in railroad operations, logistics and intermodal transportation, including leadership roles at BNSF Railway Co., CN and Cathcart Rail, Genesis officials said in a press release. In his new role, Randle will focus on strengthening Genesis’ market position and enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
Granite, an infrastructure construction company, was recently awarded a contract worth $71 million by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to expand and update the Fort Bliss rail yard near El Paso, Texas. Project funding will come from federal sources. Granite will add new loading spurs, expand the vehicle staging area and create a secondary connection from the rail yard to Union Pacific Railroad. The improvements will boost the rail yard’s capacity and reduce loading times. Construction is anticipated to begin this month and be completed in June 2027.
Evertrak, a producer of composite railroad ties, has entered a partnership with Sumitomo Corp. of Americas (SCOA), a global trading company, to expand its production capabilities and scale operations. With SCOA investing in Evertrak, the company will focus on accelerating sustainable product development, enhancing railroad infrastructure safety, and advancing sustainable practices in the railroad industry, Evertrak officials said in a press release.
