Rail supplier news from ATIX, Hitachi and Renfe (June 2)

American Industrial Transport Inc. 's(AITX) board has added Doug MacDonald as a director. He will also serve as a senior operating adviser to AITX parent company, ITE Management LP. MacDonald brings extensive freight rail and supply expertise to the position, AITX officials said in a press release. During his 34-year career, he has served in leadership roles in operations, sales and customer-facing technology. Most recently, MacDonald was executive vice president of sales and marketing at CN.
Hitachi Rail will deliver the control-command and signaling work between Paulinenaue and Schwanheide on the overhaul of the Hamburg-Berlin rail line, a key European rail line project. Hitachi's responsibilities include the renewal of all electronic interlocking subcenters and trackside equipment, the establishment of two new crossovers, the renewal of the continuous automatic train control system, and minor track layout adjustments, Hitachi officials said in a press release.
Renfe International Projects (RPI), based in Spain, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Central Japan Railway. The two parties will exchange information and personnel in areas such as research and development, operation and maintenance of high-speed and conventional lines, as well as the exploration of joint opportunities. The memorandum highlights both parties' intentions to build a relationship focused on mutual interest projects, officials from RPI said in a press release.
