STV has signed a contract with the Maryland Department of Transportation/Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to provide comprehensive design services for MTA’s Red Line, a new 14-mile light rail transit corridor in Baltimore. STV will serve as the general engineering consultant in a tri-venture with Jacobs and WRA. The firm will provide roadway, track, water resources, systems, traffic, landscaping, architecture, structural and utility design and oversight. STV is offering planning support in collaboration with the program management consultant and will provide cost estimating services later in the project, according to an STV press release. Separately, Seattle Center officials have selected STV to develop general construction manager and procurement strategies and provide program management/construction management services for procurement, ADA upgrades, safety improvements and architectural enhancements at the Seattle Center Monorail terminal stop. A contract value was not mentioned in the press release.
Bohr Electronics has named Jess Carneiro as outside sales manager. She has over a decade of experience in the railroad industry, specializing in sales management, logistics and business-to-business partnerships. Most recently, Carneiro was an account executive with Heartwood, a provider of virtual training technology for the rail industry. In her new role, she will focus on expanding Bohr Electronics' presence in key rail markets and collaborating with customers to deliver reliable locomotive electronics solutions, including the company’s legacy repair services and CRM data management devices.
Railinc's TransmetriQ brand has launched a new Shop Locator tool, designed to reduce freight car out-of-service time for car users, owners and lessors. Shop Locator is designed to help fleet managers to quickly find repair shops when cars require service and enables better, more efficient communication with those shops, according to a Railinc press release.
The Railway Supply Institute announced Matthew Delaney has been hired as government and public affairs manager to focus on the RSI’s passenger-rail initiative. In the role, Delaney will support RSI’s advocacy efforts, liaise with key stakeholders and contribute to advancing priorities related to passenger rail on Capitol Hill and beyond. Delaney's "passion for public policy and understanding of the key issues related to this sector will be invaluable in championing the interests of our members as we continue to expand our efforts in passenger rail,” said Marc Buncher, president and CEO of Siemens Mobility North America, in a press release. Buncher will serve as chairman of the RSI Passenger Rail Working Group.
