Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

Loram Maintenance of Way Inc. has acquired the railroad services division of Montana Hydraulics LLC. The division provides technicians to perform field services for ballast cars, hydraulic dump cars and air dump cars, as well as repair, maintain and manufacture maintenance-of-way equipment. The purchase also included Montana Hydraulics’ bi-directional ballast plows, Grizzly side dump conversions and Bobcat tarp systems. The acquired products and services will be managed under Loram Technologies Inc. Montana Hydraulics will continue to serve its heavy industry customers with manufacturing and machine shop services, Loram officials said in a press release.

Skanska USA has signed a $392 million contract with Penn District Station Developer LLC to renovate Pennsylvania Station's MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) concourse in New York City. The contract includes the design and construction of a widened corridor at the 33rd Street entrance to the new Moynihan Train Hall. The design will include accessibility enhancements to train platforms, raised ceiling heights, upgraded lighting and wayfinding, digital information screens, and mechanical and electrical work. Construction is ongoing and is scheduled for completion in first-quarter 2023, Skanska officials said in a press release.

Wilson & Co. Inc. Engineers & Architects named James Brady president and chief executive officer to succeed Steven Watt, who retired last year. Brady, who also has joined the company’s board, has served the company for 20 years, most recently as chief operating officer. He has held various leadership roles, including overseeing transportation and rail service. 

WSP USA hired David Pizzimenti as vice president of alternate delivery for the Southeast. He will lead the selection of contractor and concessionaire partners and manage the relationship with those partners in a 12-state region. Pizzimenti has 20 years of experience in the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, including those involving rail.
