OmniTRAX Inc. has signed a long-term lease for and launched a 90-acre multimodal logistics hub in Blue Island, Illinois, the company announced today.
The southern Chicago-area site borders 119th and Division streets within Blue Island's commercial center. The new rail and real estate project provides direct access to Chicago and the U.S. heartland markets while connecting tenants with the city's largest labor pool, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
The new logistics hub provides access to all Class Is through OmniTRAX’s Chicago Rail Link. The hub also features bulk commodity rail to truck transloading, secure truck and trailer storage and secure container storage, they said.
The project marks OmniTRAX's continued investment in Blue Island. Chicago Rail Link first served the Blue Island Yard in 1992.
“The city of Blue Island has a proud industrial and rail heritage that makes this partnership a perfect fit," said OmniTRAX Senior Vice President Chris Tecu.
