OmniTRAX has launched an expanded transload platform that aims to increase rail usage for shippers who traditionally rely on trucking transportation.

As truck rates and driver shortages increase, "OmniTRAX Connect: Where Rail Meets Road" seeks to provide exponentially more rail access to shippers seeking greater cost control, reduced reliance on long-haul trucks and improved shipment reliability, company officials said in a press release.

The new transload platform follows the recent appointment of Phillip Hoskins as vice president of transload and coincides with plans to launch transloading hubs in select markets across OmniTRAX's rail network. It combines the benefits of local service with national reach by providing shippers with low-risk and easier entry points for shippers to test new markets before committing to their own facilities.

The OmniTRAX Connect business development team, alongside transload partners, will help guide new rail shippers through every step of the process from initial interest to last-mile delivery, OmniTRAX officials said.

"OmniTRAX Connect is our commitment to showcase our growing transload network, highlight our partners and expand rail access for more customers and demonstrate the industry-leading level of service that we are known for," said OmniTRAX Vice President of Transload Phillip Hoskins. "OmniTRAX has a proven record of pairing rail and real estate expertise to optimize supply chains, and transloading allows more shippers to maximize supply chain efficiency."
