Ohio Rail Development Commission to consider four rail grants at Thursday meeting

On Thursday, Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) members expect to vote on grants totaling nearly $600,000 for four rail line rehabilitation and improvement projects. The grant requests are among the agenda items for the commission’s next regular meeting.

Commissioners will consider awarding two grants to the Indiana and Ohio Railway, one to the city of Dayton and one to the city of Lebanon. One of the Indiana and Ohio grants would help the short line complete work on a Lancaster-to-Logan line, which ORDC has provided funds for in three phases since January 2011.

Commissioners also will consider extending a lease with the Newark, Heath and Buckeye Scenic Railway concerning the Glass Rock branch line.
