Today, RMI introduced m-Crew, a remote computing application designed for regional and short-line train crews.

The application enables crews to receive real-time information via a mobile tool while onboard a train, and provide updated work orders and other train event information to a railroad’s transportation management system. Using a touch-screen tablet personal computer, and satellite or cellular communications, crews can provide up-to-the-minute train location and switching information.

"RMI is committed to creating a paperless system so that railroads can streamline operations, control costs and improve customer service," said RMI Vice President of Marketing Paul Pascutti in a prepared statement.

Tested on two short lines, m-Crew is designed as a module within RMI's RailConnect, a suite of software applications that enable railroads to manage day-to-day business, and improve communication with other railroads and transportation companies.
