The Metropolitan Transportation Authority achieved record-breaking ridership and on-time performance on New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North Railroad in the first six months of the year.
Subway ridership was up 8% over the first half of 2024 levels, LIRR ridership was up 9% and Metro-North ridership was up 6%.
Weekday subway on-time performance in the first six months of 2025 was 83.7%, up 2.4% from the same point last year. The subway is on track for the best non-pandemic year in its history, MTA officials said in a press release. Weekday subway delays were down 11%, while weekend delays were down 14%.
