ASLRRA produces video to commemorate centennial anniversary
With the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) set to mark its 100th anniversary in September, the association has produced a video to commemorate its journey over the past century.
In September 1913, 22 short-line managers met in Atlanta and formed the Short Line Railroad Association of the Southeast. Their primary purpose: to deal with legislative matters, particularly amending the Railway Mail Pay law.
From that start as a small and geographically limited association, ASLRRA has grown to "become an extraordinarily active national organization that is recognized as one of the most effective industry associations in Washington, D.C.," said officials from ASLRRA lobbyist Chambers, Conlon & Hartwell L.L.C. in an email introducing the video.
"Surviving 100 years was no simple task and progress was not always in a straight line," they said. "It is a fascinating story and we encourage all who are interested in the railroad industry to take a look."
