At an event held Aug. 14, Port of Vancouver USA commemorated the arrival of the 2 millionth Subaru delivered to the port, marking a milestone in the 33-year partnership between the port and the automaker, port officials said in a press release.

Attendees included port team members, Subaru of America Inc. (SOA) employees, longshore workers, stevedores, logistics partners and elected officials.

The port is the largest Subaru import gateway in North America, Port of Vancouver officials said. The port and SOA recently extended their partnership through 2040, including an expansion of the Subaru leasehold from 40 to 43 acres.

The first Subaru arrived at the port in 1993; the 1 million-vehicle benchmark was hit in 2014. Nearly 2,000 Subaru vehicles arrive in the United States through the port from Japan each week. About 80% of arriving vehicles are transported to market via rail, port officials said. The port is served by BNSF Railway.

“Working together to import 2 million Subaru vehicles through the Port of Vancouver USA is a remarkable milestone and a reflection of the trust, collaboration, and shared commitment behind this partnership,” said Lisa Quan, SOA vice president of vehicle planning and logistics. “We are grateful to the port team, longshore workers, stevedores and logistics partners who support our operations, and we look forward to building on this success through 2040 and beyond.”
