The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) recently announced U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is confirmed as the keynote speaker at the TransComp Exhibition’s industry awards and closing luncheon to be held Nov. 15 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The exhibition will be held Nov. 12-15 in conjunction with the Intermodal Association of North America’s Intermodal Expo 2011.
LaHood will share his insights on numerous initiatives currently under way that could have a major impact on the freight transportation industry, NITL officials said in the announcement.
“With the Administration and Congress squaring off on virtually every legislative and policy initiative, league members and visitors to our TransComp Exhibition will have a unique opportunity to hear directly from the Administration’s senior official on the issues that impact our industry significantly,” they said.
LaHood became the nation’s 16th transportation secretary in January 2009. He previously served 14 years in the House as an Illinois representative and was a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and House Appropriations Committee.
