Molinos USA continues to construct a $35 million corn mill in Sherman, Texas, that will become a BNSF Railway customer when the plant opens later this year.

A Lawrence Equipment Inc. subsidiary, Molinos began constructing the 50,000-square-foot corn mill in February. The facility will be Molinos first corn mill in the United States.

“When completed, BNSF will move rail cars of food-grade corn to the site,” BNSF officials said in a recent social media post. “[Molinos] plans to produce corn flour and corn meal, which will be used to make tortillas and tortilla chips for the Dallas/Fort Worth market.”

Molinos customer Easy Foods Inc. plans to build a $50 million food manufacturing plant in Sherman near the corn mill. Easy Foodswhich produces flour and corn tortillas and corn tortilla  chips, currently operates a facility in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Sherman Economic Development Corp. is providing funds to extend rail and road infrastructure for the facilities.
