Operation Lifesaver Inc.'s (OLI) efforts to expand its rail-safety educational outreach and partner with additional organizations were among the highlights of fiscal-year 2013, according to OLI's latest annual report.During FY2013 — the first full year under new President Joyce Rose — OLI revamped its volunteer program; expanded its rail safety educational outreach through social media; distributed rail-safety campaign grants from the Federal Transit Administration and Federal Railroad Administration to U.S. cities and states; added to its safety partnerships with Amtrak, the American Public Transportation Association, Association of American Railroads and National Organizations for Youth Safety; and began preparations for its new national media campaign, "See Tracks? Think Train!" that was launched earlier this year, the report states."Last year, Operation Lifesaver implemented its new volunteer training program, which will allow us to reach a broader audience with our rail safety messages," said Rose in a press release. "With the development of the See Tracks? Think Train! campaign and increased partnerships with safety organizations in the U.S. and abroad, we will continue to make a difference in communities throughout America, and across the world."Operation Lifesaver's mission is to prevent collisions, deaths and injuries at grade crossings and along railroad rights of way.
