The National Transportation Safety Board is now accepting applications for its Transportation Disaster Assistance Division family assistance operations course, which will be held in March 17-19 2026.

The free, in-person course is designed for people who would help families after a major transportation accident, such as those working for companies in rail, air, marine, highway or pipeline transportation; government agencies; and nonprofit organizations and hospitals.

The three-day, interactive class will includes lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities. Participants will take part in a group exercise and watch a mock family briefing led by NTSB staff.

The class size is limited to 50 people, and participants must be able to cover their own travel, hotel and other expenses to attend the class, which will be held at the NTSB Boardroom and Conference Center in Washington, D.C.

Applications must be filed no later than Jan. 7, 2026.

Those selected to participate will be notified by Jan. 14, 2026, with registration status and additional course details, NTSB officials said in a press release.
