CSX presents 'Partnershipping' award to Montgomery chamber of commerce

CSX Corp. recently presented its Partnershipping Award to the area chamber of commerce in Montgomery, Ala., to honor the organization’s local economic development efforts by working with the Class I to attract rail-related projects.

The chamber leveraged its long-standing relationship with CSX to help attract a Hyundai Power Transformers plant to Montgomery that’s served by the railroad, CSX officials said in a prepared statement. The new $108 million plant is expected to ship more than 150 carloads of generators on CSX annually. The chamber also was instrumental in locating a CSX-served Hyundai Automotive plant in the city.

"The chamber’s hospitality and supportive environment has made Montgomery an ideal location for the international business community, and has attracted additional foreign and domestic-based companies to the region," said John Sanford, CSX’s regional development manager for Alabama.

The Partnershipping Award recognizes an organization or individual that best implements the principles of regional development and maintains high professional standards.
