What’s next in the freight-car market? Rail Theory Forecasts L.L.C. President Toby Kolstad will try to answer that question during a Progressive Railroading Webcast to be held June 23 at 1 p.m. (EDT).

“Rail Car Counts 2009: What’s Next?” will offer Kolstad’s current rail-car delivery forecast, including how far car orders and deliveries will fall, and detailed projections for coal, grain, intermodal and tank cars.

A Progressive Railroading columnist, Kolstad also will discuss how fast the car industry will recover, what happened to the ethanol segment, how train speeds are depressing demand for new equipment and what the industry’s long-term outlook (to 2020) looks like.

In addition, the 75-minute online presentation will probe the obvious questions facing the industry: How deep will depression go? How long will it last? Is the worst over or is this economic "reset" the new reality? What is the underlying need for cars?

The registration fee for the Webcast, which will be moderated by Editor Pat Foran, is $195. To register or obtain more information, log onto www.progressiverailroading.com/webinar/railcar.
