Yesterday, officials from the Canadian government and Port Metro Vancouver marked the start of construction on the Lynn Creek rail bridge and Brooksbank Avenue underpass project in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
The $43 million project calls for building a new bridge to carry eight new rail lines and expanding the Brooksbank Avenue underpass. The project is designed to widen the port’s rail corridor and improve rail access to and from the port’s Neptune and Lynnterm West terminals.
The federal government will provide more than $21 million and the port will contribute $17.6 million for the project. Canadian Pacific also is a funding partner, according to the port.
The project is a “great example” of infrastructure improvements that directly support economic growth, said Port Metro Vancouver President and Chief Executive Officer Robin Silvester in a prepared statement, adding that the rail bridge will increase capacity and improve supply-chain efficiency.
