Tomorrow, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will break ground on the Anacostia Light Rail Demonstration project.
The authority plans to build the six-station, 2.7-mile line on existing CSX Transportation right-of-way on the east side of the Anacostia River between Bolling Air Force Base and Pennsylvania Avenue.
After launching service on the line, WMATA officials will evaluate ridership for three years before deciding whether to continue providing service.
