On Dec. 19, the Surface Transportation Board announced a utility and two Class Is worked out rate-case differences during a third board-hosted technical conference.

During the conference, representatives of The Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroad resolved an outstanding rate-dispute issue — the second major rate case to use STB's technical-conference procedure designed to expedite cases.

"Agreements reached in such conferences help save all participants time and money, and help result in clearer evidence getting filed in these cases," said STB Chairman Roger Nober in a prepared statement.
