BNSF Railway and Gunter, Texas, officials yesterday held a groundbreaking ceremony for the railroad’s new Logistics Center North Dallas.
Located in Gunter an hour north of Dallas and 30 minutes from Frisco, the logistics center will be a 944-acre multicustomer, multicommodity industrial park. Positioned near State Highway 289, it will provide direct rail service to support economic growth and expanded supply chain access across North Texas, BNSF officials said in a press release.
In addition, the facility will create a speed-to-market advantage for customers by helping them save up to nine to 12 months of development time, they added. BNSF is working with city officials on future zoning and platting requirements. Construction of the project’s first phase is expected to take 19 months to complete, BNSF officials said.
“Gunter is well-placed in one of the fastest-growing corridors in the country, and this new logistics center positions our customers to take full advantage of that momentum,” said BNSF Assistant Vice President of Economic Development and Real Estate Scot Bates.
