Rail News: Rail Industry Trends

Updates from Mitsui Rail, EMCOR Group and Bombardier

From Japan to China to the United States, the latest developments in the rail-supply industry touch countries around the globe:

• Mitsui Rail Capital L.L.C. promoted Mark Brecht from senior vice president to president to succeed Yasushi Imai, who will become general manager for Mitsui and Co.’s Third Transportation Project Department. Since joining Mitsui Rail in 1996, Brecht has held various management positions, including vice president and treasurer. Imai, who now will be based in Tokyo, had served as Mitsui Rail president since 2002.

• EMCOR Group Inc. subsidiary Wasatch Electric obtained a contract from the Utah Transit Authority to provide electrical work for nine stations to be built for the northern segment of a new 90-mile commuter-rail line between Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah.

• Bombardier Transportation completed a driverless automated people mover at Beijing Capital International Airport. The BOMBARDIER(i) CX-100(i) system will be tested for several months, then begin passenger service in March 2008 prior to the opening of the 2008 summer Olympic games in Beijing. Bombardier will operate and maintain the system, which will operate on a dual-guideway between two stations.
