The Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) recently awarded a $24 million contract to Alcatel Transport Solutions to provide control and safety detection systems.
During the next two years, Alcatel will help install 2,500 multiple-section and 3,700 single-section axle counters along TRA’s 685-mile system. Under the contract, Alcatel will deliver the equipment and train TRA workers to install the counters.
Alcatel’s 6315 FieldTrac microprocessor-based multiple-section axle counter is designed to monitor up to 32 track sections simultaneously. The 6316 FieldTrac is designed to evaluate three detection points and monitor one section.
