The Senate Aug. 1 confirmed attorneys Edward Fitzmaurice and Harry Hoglander to the three-member National Mediation Board (NMB), joining Frank Duggan.

Fitzmaurice (whose term expires July 1, 2004) was expected to be sworn in Aug. 2; Hoglander (whose term expires July 1, 2005) would be sworn in Aug. 6.

Fitzmaurice, who most recently ran a private law practice in Dallas, previously served as a labor lawyer for Hicks and Associates, and as an associate with Kern, Wooley and Maloney. While practicing law, he served as a domestic captain, co-pilot and flight engineer for Braniff International Airlines.

Hoglander most recently served as a legislative specialist in the Boston office of Rep. John Tierney (D-Mass.), specializing in labor and transportation issues. He previously served Trans World Airlines as a pilot, captain and master chairman of TWA's master executive council, and Air Line Pilots Association as executive vice president.
