Savage adds trucking to crude-by-rail services in Uinta, Williston basins

Savage Cos. now offers trucking in addition to rail services at its crude oil terminals in the Uinta and Williston basins.

Crude-by-rail transloading and truck transportation services enable the company to offer oil and gas companies a more complete logistics solution from a wellhead to a refinery, Savage officials said in a press release. Truck services fill the gap of moving crude from a well to the company's transload terminals, they said.

Savage's rail-served terminals in Trenton, N.D., and Price and Salt Lake City, Utah, target crude bound for key refinery markets. The Trenton facility is served by BNSF Railway Co.; Price facility is served by Union Pacific Railroad; and Salt Lake City facility is served by the Bingham & Garfield Railway.

The company's Utah terminals now provide truck dispatch and transportation, rail-car switching and spotting, transloading and car storage services; and the North Dakota facility provides truck dispatch and transportation, unit train loading, single car transloading and car storage services.

"Oil producers in the Uinta Basin and the Bakken need a better way to get crude to market. [We] have the infrastructure, equipment and expertise to work with our customers to solve this problem," said Kirk Aubry, Savage's president and chief operating officer.
