San Francisco agency to advance transit improvement program

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) board recently endorsed the plans outlined in the agency’s Transit Effectiveness Project, the first comprehensive review of the system in a generation.

The program calls for adjusting more than half the agency’s rail routes and bus lines to better serve customers. The changes are expected to increase daily boardings 10 percent by 2015.

During the coming months, SFMTA will focus on improving reliability, reducing delays and implementing related pilot projects. The agency could implement route changes as early as July 2009.
