Kansas City Southern recently formed an international rail operations support team at its corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., for Kansas City Southern Railway Co. and Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V.
An outgrowth of the Class I’s “one network-one team” concept, the team will manage demurrage, waybill and Management Control System functions to support both railroads’ transportation teams and customer service departments, according to an item posted on the “KCS News” web page. The team will share best practices on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.
KCS named Kelly King director of international rail operations support to lead the team. King most recently pursued a military career with the U.S. Army.
The international rail operations support group will be overseen by Assistant Vice President of Network Services Greg Walling, who also is responsible for service design, asset management and equipment distribution functions.
“The addition of this team will further improve our efficiency and effectiveness in operating as a single network and providing optimal service to our customers,” said Walling in the news item.
