New Jersey Transit yesterday released a request for qualifications (RFQ) for prequalification for the final design, construction and commissioning of the Northern Rail Maintenance of Way facility in Clifton.

The new facility will replace an aging and flood prone Wood-Ridge facility, NJ Transit officials said in a press release.

The project includes demolition of an existing building and structures, construction of three new buildings across two NJ Transit sites, site grading, creation of new access roads and parking areas, and coordination of site utilities and integration of maintenance equipment.

Following the prequalification process, NJ Transit will create a short list of the most qualified firms to move forward to the request-for-proposals stage.

Submissions are due Oct. 6. Additional evaluation criteria is available at the NJ Transit Bid Express webpage.
