Genesee & Wyoming gains traffic in July
advertisement
In July, Genesee & Wyoming Inc.’s (GWI) railroads handled 71,558 carloads, up 7.4 percent compared with July 2009 volume.
The traffic gain was driven by increased farm and food products carloads, especially grain shipments in Australia, and overhead coal shipments in the New York/Ohio/Pennsylvania Region. However, coal, coke and ores traffic declined primarily because of decreased coal shipments in the Rocky Mountain and Illinois regions.
GWI owns and operates 62 regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
