Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) recently approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. (Metra) under which CTA will install a transit card vending machine at Metra’s LaSalle Street Station.
To be installed by year’s end, the machine will provide commuters easier access to CTA tickets. In recent months, the authority has been working with Metra to improve access to CTA tickets. In March, CTA installed a ticket vending machine and visitor pass vending machine near the Metra ticket counter at Chicago’s Union Station.
“As the demand for transit continues to increase, CTA and Metra recognize the importance of providing smooth transfers and increased accessibility to CTA fare media,” said CTA President Frank Kruesi in a prepared statement.
