Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Next month, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will hold public meetings to obtain feedback on a proposed extension of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line.
The authority plans to extend the line from its existing south terminus at 95th Street to a new terminal at 130th Street. The extension would streamline bus-to-rail connections for 12 CTA and four Pace bus routes, and connect the line with the South Shore commuter-rail corridor and the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp.’s (Metra) proposed Southeast commuter-rail service.
