The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is on a ridership roll, posting gains in each of 2005’s first five months.
Through May, ridership rose 3.8 percent compared with the same 2004 period. During the year’s first five months, CTA carried 187.2 million passengers on its rail and bus system compared with 181.1 million during 2004’s first five months.
In May, ridership was up 4.1 percent compared with May 2004. The authority’s weekday ridership rose 3.3 percent, and Saturday and Sunday ridership increased 7.2 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively.
