Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently received a 2002 Quality Carrier Award from Stora Enso North America — the first railroad to receive the paper and forest-product shipper's honor since 1996.
The award recognizes carriers that meet or exceed Stora Enso's transportation-quality program criteria, including safety, on-time and damage-free service, equipment supply and quality, and communication.
"BNSF is proving it is a carrier committed to superior performance by working to build a stronger relationship with us and consistently providing reliable transportation services," said Kari Lundell, Stora Enso vice president of logistics, in a prepared statement.
BNSF serves Stora Enso's Minnesota and Wisconsin facilities, as well as other North American plants.
Meanwhile, CSX Transportation received Shell Chemicals' Gold
Carrier Award — only the third time in the award's 10-year history that the chemical shipper has bestowed the honor to a railroad.
The award recognizes a carrier's performance in safety, on-time delivery, maintenance, marketing/sales, freight invoicing and customer service.
