Union Pacific Railroad was selected to serve Roehm America LLC's new petrochemical plant in Bay City, Texas, about 80 miles southwest of Houston.

The new plant began production earlier this year. It produces methyl methacrylate, which is used to manufacture paints, adhesives, medical products and aircraft glazing, UP officials said in a press release. UP provides Roehm and other customers rail service to markets across 23 states, Mexico and Canada.

Roehm is one of the world's leading manufacturers of methacrylate chemicals, and primarily supplies automotive, construction and medical technology industries, UP officials said.
