Santa Clara VTA names Mikolajczyk CFO, Gonot chief of BART extension

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) recently appointed two executives under the first phase of an organizational transformation program aimed at improving efficiency and financial stability.

The authority officially named acting Chief Financial Officer Jerry Mikolajczyk to the CFO post. The appointment prompted rating agencies to uphold and upgrade VTA’s credit ratings, which helped save $1.6 million in interest, according to the authority.

VTA also named Caroyln Gonot to the newly created position of chief Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Program Officer. She will be responsible for overseeing planning and development of a Bay Area Rapid Transit extension to the Silicon Valley, and securing all approvals and funding necessary for VTA to begin final design and construction. Most recently VTA’s chief development officer, Gonot has served the authority for 11 years.

VTA made the personnel changes in response to a consultant’s March report, which recommended the authority improve its governance, financial practices and organizational structure.
